About me
I was born and raised in a small town on the border of Poland and Germany, called gubin. For the first 8 years of my life I lived in a communist country, where access to food was very limited. As I recall now, my mom always had a huge garden where she would grow all the fruits and vegetables I can think of. There were no fast food restaurants at that time, no convenience stores and supermarkets only had mustard and vinegar on otherwise empty shelves. We did not crave junk food because we did not know it. Whenever I was hungry, I would run to my garden and pick an apple or tomato, or whatever was ripe and in season without giving it much thought. that situation was not unique to my family, everybody in the community shared a similar lifestyle. Little did I know that nowadays it's a highly desirable setting for a very healthy lifestyle. We are living in a toxic environment, where kids don't play outdoors much and access to fast food is too easy. I believe in cooking as a way of eating healthy and in nutrition education to make the right choice.
my philosophy
I have a passion for public speaking, coaching, teaching cooking classes, healthy recipe development, nutrition counseling, running, kiteboarding, sports nutrition and research. I strongly believe the quote that "food can be your strongest medicine, or the slowest form of poison". I am passionate about two things: food and sports. As an athlete I traveled the world competing. I've been to Korea, Italy, Greece, Canada, Germany and France amongst other countries. I'm always learning about people, their culture and their food. I think food is strongly connected to how we feel. I love cooking and I'm currently writing a cook book for active people and athletes. I have a masters in nutrition and I'm trying to apply my knowledge to all my current activities: coaching adult run club at Sports Academy, private coaching and nutrition counseling. I know for sure that I like working with people, whether it's in the athletic department, or teaching Bodyworks classes about nutrition and fitness at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Sports nutrition is my real passion, but I don't believe that there is a perfect diet that works for everyone, just as there's no simple training plan for a runner. We are all different and things that work for one person will not work for another. I can help you figure out what works best for you, your running goals, and your health.
